THE IMAGINATION INSTITUTE
A COSMOLOGICAL TRAINING FOR WORLD-BUILDERS, visionaries, AND ARTISTS OF LIBERATION.
A 9-week Initiatory School for Creators of the Next World.
You are not here to “improve your creativity”.
You are here because your ancestors marked you as a builder of worlds, a carrier of imaginative technology, a vessel of Aje power, and a. person whose vision shapes collective futures.
The Imagination Institute is not “a course”. It is a cosmological school, a wombic field of training, where Black imagination returns to its original role: Divine, strategic, political, ancestral technology for liberation of all kinds—including economic.
This is where the next generation of visionary artists, spiritual architects, healers, mothers, writers, ritualist, and cultural creators learn to wield imagination as power, as infrastructure, and as destiny. Those who are ready to reclaim imagination as a living power.
Here, imagination is:
a liberation practice,
a spiritual lineage,
a somatic expansion,
a world-building engine,
a cosmology.
This is a school for the ones who know that the world they inherited cannot hold the world they are here to build.
what this is
a 9 week initiatory training rooted in:
It is a matriarchal cosmology school, grounded in African indigenous wisdoms (Dagara, Haitian, Yoruba/Aje, Kongo), performance praxis, speculative artmaking, ritual, grief tending, embodied liberation, and ancestral world-building.
It is where I teach my proprietary framework —
The Aje Cosmology of Imagination —
the system I have used to create award-winning artistic works, ritual-performances, installations, films, and world-building projects funded by over $200,000 in institutional support.
It is also the system I have used to survive a capitalism built on my exploitation as African descendent, as birther, as Black woman, as matriarch/single mother. A system imparted in my personal and artistic study of Harriet Tubman’s freedom-making power as a Master Medicine.
This system measures success not by capitalist metrics, but by the ability to embody ancestral, artistic, matriarchal, ritual, and lived authority to create worlds that impact others while allowing us means of a robust and glorious survival.
I stand as:
the daughter of a disrupted lineage,
the mother of a regenerated one,
a world-builder whose imagination has received substantial institutional investment,
an artist whose work transforms audiences, communities, and space,
a guide whose cosmology comes through embodied experience, not abstraction.
The distance I have traveled — as a Black mother, artist, and descendant of enslavement who continues to survive, dream, create, and build worlds — is my authority. And your persistent dreams carried through ancestral memory are yours.
You come here to become a vessel of cosmology. A birther of worlds.
The Aje Cosmology of Imagination centers:
African cosmologies
Aje (Yoruba) creation power
Dagara elemental technologies
Haitian Vodou as liberatory spiritual framework
Wombic time
Black speculative tradition
Ancestral reclamation
Is decolonial, reindigenizing, and anti-capitalist/anti-patriarchal at its root.
This is where you learn to:
Activate your personal cosmology
Expand your imaginative nervous system
Birth new worlds
Channel ancestral creative force
Architect liberators futures
Generate work aligned with destiny
Steward your visions without collapse
Unlock the rituals, systems, and creative technologies your lineage sent with you
You leave this school as a cosmological world-builder full seated in your power.
A 9-session training ground for liberatory world-makers.
This is a Black Imagination lineage school where world-builders, conjure-writers, cosmologists, and spiritual architects train to imagine the next world—and take their place as creators of liberated futures.
Harriet self-liberated by walking the arduous road to Philadelphia on foot. This pathway was not paved—it was her vision meeting her effort that opened this door this door to liberation from within to without that continues to liberate to this day.

Who This Is For
This school is for you if:
You are tired of “self-help” from privileged spiritist who can’t or DON’T speak to your lived experiences and the experiences of your ancestors.
You feel chosen, marked, or compelled by something ancient.
You carry visions that feel bigger than your current life, and you need a container to train in them.
Even when you doubt yourself, you know that your imagination is not random. It is an ancestral assignment.
who this is not for
People looking to extract from the power of Black Imagination
Folks needing colonial validation or permission to create
People who want fantasy without praxis
Folks who want to create without being transformed
This school demands participation, courage, and willingness to be changed.

Candice D’Meza is a novel archetype for our era, she seamlessly blends ancient arts and knowledge into a methodology for modern day revolutionary praxis. I left feeling very empowered and grounded in my self-knowing, ready to enliven threads for my own becoming.
-Dr. Ryn
Candice D’Meza (B.A., MPA) is a liberation architect, writer, performer, and system strategist whose work treats art and imagination as pedagogy, survival praxis, and revolutionary technology. Her work is rooted in the understanding that imagination is not escapism, but a method of reshaping reality—a tool for liberation, for reorganizing power, and for building the conditions in which life can flourish.
As a consultant with Change Elemental and the BIPOC Arts Network and Fund (BANF) in Houston, she led data synthesis, facilitated programmatic transformation, and co-designed creative solutions addressing racial inequities in philanthropic arts funding. Her work helped reshape how resources move to BIPOC artists, communities, and cultural workers.
Before this, Candice served as a high school English teacher for English Language Learners, where she developed empowering, culturally-responsive curricula designed to awaken voice, agency, and imagination as power.
Her academic grounding includes a B.A. in Black Studies and a Master of Public Administration, supported by over 200 hours of apprenticeship with Dr. Malidoma Patrice Somé, studying indigenous African cosmologies, divination, ritual, and imagination as transformative technology.
As a multidisciplinary artist and creative entrepreneur of 10+ years, Candice has secured over $200,000 in direct project funding and grants. Her work has been archived at Colgate University and Rice University, commissioned and exhibited by organizations like the Contemporary Art Museum of Houston, DiverseWorks, The Catastrophic Theatre, The Blaffer Museum, as well as featured in national and regional publications, including:
Named one of “7 Artists to Watch” — Houston Press
Described as “one of the region’s most innovative voices” — Houston Chronicle
Included in the Routledge Companion to Latinx Theatre and Performance (corrected title)
Her performances, installations, and liberatory world-building projects have been presented across the United States, and she currently serves as an Artist-in-Residence at Lawndale Art Center, while also leading her own creative and spiritual practice.
Candice is also a solo mother of three, moving through the world with the lived knowledge that imagination is not abstraction — it is applied strategy, survival, technology, and future-making.
Her work bridges the gap between:
Art and activism
Spirituality and systems change
Liberation work and real-world infrastructure
She teaches imagination not as escape — but as the method by which we build the world that does not yet exist.
