“Blessed Thieves”, an artist residency project with Rec Room Arts in Houston, Texas, was an exploration of the interaction of colonialism, vulnerability, shame, authenticity and acceptance in the creation of the public persona in social interactions and via social media. Participatory and interdisciplinary, it combined ethnographic input, a shame drop-off, and various places to write and record personal stories anonymously. It also involved places to record and post social media responses to specific prompts under #blessedthieves and #blesedthieveshtx.
