Welcome to the cosmology of your becoming

A home for Black imagination, liberated futures, and world-builders reclaiming ancestral technology.

I build liberated worlds through art, cosmology, and ancestral imagination — and I teach others to reclaim imagination as technology for their own liberation.

I am Candice D’Meza — a world-builder, spiritualist, cosmologist, and multidisciplinary artist teaching imagination as ancestral technology. Among extensive press coverage, I have been called “one of Houston’s most innovative [artistic] voices.”

My work has three pillars:

  1. Art & Performance — world-building through theater, film, ritual, installation, and speculative practice.

  2. Cosmology & Teaching — The Imagination Institute, The Liberation Mystery School, masterclasses, e-books and ancestral technology frameworks.

  3. Community & Lineage Work — embodied rituals, matriarchal cosmology, Dagara lineage studies.

My work reconstructs cosmology and ancestral memory from the fractures of diaspora. Across art, ritual, and teaching, I use imagination as a matriarchal tool for liberation, memory, grief work, and the creation of liberated futures. I do this by merging African spiritual systems, world-building, performance + film, speculative futurism, and ancestral memory to help visionaries rebuild the cosmology that belongs to them.

I am currently a 2025-2026 Artist-in Residence with Lawndale Arts, a Momma of 3, and have a growing digital community of over 47K people.

MY WORK at a glance

  1. Recipient of $200K+ in direct institutional arts funding for my arts and culture projects

  2. Studied 200+ hours of Dagara cosmology under Dr. Malidoma Somé

  3. Commissions + grant awards + panel lectures with museums, universities, art institutions nationally and internationally

  4. Award-winning performances and nationally recognized projects

  5. B.A. Black Studies; Masters in Public Administration

What I do is more than creativity and art for art’s sake; I position art and imagination as cosmological return — the process of remembering the worlds that dreamed you first.

This is not casual spirituality—it is energetic restructuring and imagination as ancestral technology—all modeled after Freedom Makers.

I am not a self-help coach. I teach liberation through world-building from a Black Liberatory Imagination lens.

This is a space for:

  • descendants of diasporas

  • mothers and matriarchs

  • artists, healers, ritualists

  • world-builders and visionaries

  • grief-walkers and future-makers

People who feel called to something ancient, something expansive, something that refuses to die inside them.

Because if you’re here, it’s no coincidence. Your ancestors are mine are tangled in a larger weaving meant to assist us in liberating our selves and communities.

The ability to imagine and then build worlds is our ancestral inheritance.

And you are being asked to reclaim it.

start here: your first initiation step.

THE IMAGINATION INSTITUTE

A cosmological school for visionaries, artists, creatives, healers, and world-builders ready to remember who they are — and reclaim the ancestral technologies hidden inside their imagination.

Imagination is not aesthetic.

It is cosmology.
It is lineage.
It is world-building power.
It is the technology our ancestors used to survive the impossible.

Over 9 weeks, you will learn The Aje Cosmology of Imagination™, my proprietary framework for:

My worldview is heavily informed by the profound teachings of Dagara cosmology and the spiritual wisdom of Dr. Malidoma Patrice Somé, with whom I have over 250 hours in practice and study of ritual.

My approach is a mix of Homegirl Next Door, Research Driven Mad Scientist, Artsy Academic Hottie, and Stand up Comedian.

My mission is to guide others through a journey of self-healing, self-initiation into liberation, and transformation.

I love working with those who society has placed on the margins, because I help place them right back in the center of their own sovereignty.

I’m a champion for Single Mommas thriving, I don’t fuck with spiritualities that don’t tackle predatory capitalism and colonialism, and freedom* ain’t no fun if the homies can’t have none.

*Freedom involves living in symbiotic relationship with our ancestors, humans, plants, animals, insects, fungus and mycelium, planetary bodies, and any other cool ass entities that wanna help us elevate into greater embodied empathy.

My Methodologies

Multi-Layered Approach: All of us are shaped by the familial, the social/political, as well as the psychological and spiritual. Through liberationist pedagogy and spiritual technologies, I use spiritual tools to tackle the social effects of oppressive systems on the subconscious, to empower the soul to create new realities.

Multi-disciplinary Methods: Art is the language of the Divine, and Ritual is the tool of Spirit. Meditation, Writing, Painting, Song and Dance—I explore all tools necessary to help us heal and create new worlds—all served with a side of laughter and joy.

Combine this with scientific fields of study such as quantum mechanics, neuroscience, psychology, and Voila! Tailored, research driven methods that integrate quantifiable research and indigenous wisdoms.

Intersectional Space: Women, People of the Global Majority, Caregivers/Parents, Queer, Immigrant, and Neurodivergent Folx – all these groups have specific needs that are historically underserved. Your experiences are embraced as the marker of your medicine; your stories are not a disqualifier, and are held in loving witness and embraced in supportive care.

Positive Gossip:

“Candice D'Meza will guide you through a journey of self-healing, self-initiation into liberation, and transformation like no other. There were times were I felt like a black superhero and a modern-day shapeshifter all in one. The fusion of collaboration, active listening, and care was felt throughout and I can't wait to dive back in to the black acting methods with the use of ritual and cultural plurality."
